DURABILITY DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
Tour Engine, Inc. (TEI) is seeking candidates for the position of Durability Development Engineer at its San Diego, CA headquarters. The successful candidate will focus on the durability development of TEI’s innovative split-cycle internal combustion engines. This role involves overseeing specific tests in TEI’s state-of-the-art engine test cell and conducting post-test data analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
· Conduct and manage durability tests within the engine test cell
· Perform post-test data analysis and reporting
· Support in planning, documentation, and time management of tests
· Investigate wear patterns, oil analysis, and temperature measurements
· Provide technical support for pilot projects in the field
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) required; graduate studies preferred
· 2+ years of durability development experience in an engine or university laboratory
· Proficiency with tribological test equipment and standard testing procedures (e.g., surface roughness testers, 3-D profilometers, hardness testers, oil viscosity testers)
· Knowledge in interpreting wear patterns, oil consumption measurement, and temperature monitoring
· Mechanical engineering experience with a focus on combustion engines, material science, surface coatings, and design of experiments required
· Familiarity with sealing and oil control of engine power cylinders and their impact on emissions is highly desirable
· Project management experience is a plus

This is a multifaceted role, joining our small team of proactive workers with broad skillsets and responsibilities, contributing to various aspects of development.
Key Responsibilities:
· Design and assembly of frame, exterior, lubrication, fuel, cooling, airflow, acoustic, and electric components
· Addressing engine and system NVH
· Durability development and failure investigation
· Test-cell support and development
· Assist with documentation, planning, and time management
· Field support of pilot projects
Qualifications:
· 3+ years of professional experience required
· Engine development experience preferred
· CAD proficiency, CREO experience preferred

· Select, procure, test, and calibrate sensors and electrical hardware
· Design, assemble, and troubleshoot electrical harnesses
· Program engine control units to optimize system safety, automation, and reliability
· Conduct simulation software modeling and analysis of thermal, electrical, fluid, and mechanical subsystems
Qualifications:
· Engine development experience preferred
· Experience with sensor selection is preferred
· Programming experience is required
· Familiarity with Simulink, LabVIEW, or other graphical programming tools is preferred
· Experience with version control software such as GIT is preferred
· Knowledge of 1D engine/system simulation tools such as GT-SUITE, Ricardo Wave, Simscape, or Amesim is preferred
